About the Role
This role is critical for a major national rail programme focused on delivering a modern, electrified high-speed corridor. The position involves leading the planning function, ensuring robust planning, scheduling, and monitoring across projects and tenders to achieve effective, predictable, and high-quality delivery outcomes.
Responsibilities

- Provide strategic leadership of planning performance, ensuring projects and tenders are effectively planned, scheduled and monitored to meet business objectives.
- Uphold ethical, commercially sound operations while shaping long‑term strategy and supporting due‑diligence activities.
- Develop and empower teams through mentoring, innovation, knowledge sharing and proactive talent growth.
- Lead planning and scheduling for medium to high‑complexity programmes, applying robust project controls, EVM and analytical techniques.
- Provide expert analysis, advising on complex requirements and communicating clear corrective actions to clients and stakeholders.
- Guide and develop the planning team, driving high‑quality performance and professional growth.
- Support senior leadership through informed input into negotiations, due diligence and business development activities.
Requirements
- Experience delivering major rail or high‑speed programmes, ideally within the design or early set‑up stages.
- Extensive planning experience across major property or infrastructure programmes.
- Strong commercial, financial and digital scheduling expertise, with mastery of modern planning tools.
- Proven leadership of high‑performing teams with senior stakeholder influence and sustainability awareness.
