About the Role
As ABC’s Lawn Specialist Trainer, you will provide high-quality landscape maintenance training for new employees while delivering exceptional customer service. This role involves leading a team, mentoring new hires on company policies and procedures, and assessing their readiness for production crews.
Responsibilities
- Provide high quality landscape maintenance training for new employees.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all customers.
- Act as a crew leader on a designated training route.
- Coach new employees on reading route notes and following special instructions.
- Train on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Instruct new crew members on the proper handling and safety procedures for mowing equipment.
- Track recommended operating time for each piece of equipment for new employees.
- Ensure mowing, trimming, edging, blowing, and all other lawn maintenance work is done professionally.
- Train to follow the Quality Counts Program to maximize team output.
- Direct workflow and work performed by other crew members, ensuring teamwork and even workload distribution.
- Train on how to become familiar with service contracts and exceed customer expectations.
- Train to perform daily routine equipment checks (greasing, oil, blades, reporting malfunctions).
- Ensure all necessary equipment is in working order, loaded, and secured properly daily.
- Perform Daily Vehicle and Trailer Inspections, reporting any issues.
- Schedule repairs for non-urgent items on the “Maintain X” app.
- Immediately report any damage to a customer’s property to Crew Chief and Service Manager.
- Train to perform a thorough property walk before leaving to inspect work area and ensure no tools are left behind.
- Train for expected daily route goals and inform Service Manager of all resets, skipped services, and work not completed.
- Inspect all equipment when moved to a new trailer.
- Train how to inspect vehicles and trailers daily and the procedure for new equipment assignment.
- Follow all company and department policies and protocols, including PTO policy.
- Attend required department meetings and company or vendor training.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Must hold a valid driver's license with an issue date of at least five years prior to the date of application.
- Minimum of five consecutive (current and most recent) years of verifiable good driving history.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
- Proficient in the operation of all lawn maintenance equipment and able to become proficient with any new equipment.
- Excellent communicator both written and verbally.
- Coach type mentality with the ability to be patient and teach.
- Ability to prioritize workload, work under pressure and maintain good composure.
- Experience working on high volume routes, providing high quality service, and meeting daily deadlines.
- Ability to identify the fine details in landscape maintenance that spotlight quality service.
- Dependable and self-motivated with a desire to learn, grow, and be part of a developing team.
- Ability to use and navigate electronic tablet/phone, email, text, etc.
- Ability to walk for long periods of time in extreme temperatures.
- Work outdoors for extensive periods of time.
- Able to work long hours during peak season.
- Climb a ladder up to 10 feet in height.
- Perform repetitive walking, lifting, twisting, pulling, pushing, bending, squatting, crouching, kneeling, and overhead reaching.
- Lifting or carrying 50-80 lbs. may be required.
- Ability to carry a 15 lb. backpack repeatedly throughout the day.
- Properly operate push mowers, riders, hedge trimmers, etc.
- Must be able to distinguish plants by size, shape, and color.
- Any DWI/DUI within the past four years may impact eligibility for employment.

- Up to $65,000, based on experience
