About the Role

This role serves as a subject-matter authority for actuarial data, systems, and technical processes within Corporate Actuarial. The incumbent ensures reliable, consistent data extracts from multiple sources, supporting accurate analyses for MROC and Temple Insurance. The role drives data-informed decision making by ensuring relevant information is accessible and understood. It leads process modernization, continuous improvement, and operational efficiencies using local and global infrastructure. Additionally, the position maintains effective controls and documentation over actuarial data processes. Success requires a collaborative, self-starting professional with strong technical expertise, a focus on efficiency, and a commitment to maintaining high standards in controls and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an authoritative understanding of actuarial systems, data structures, and end to end data flows, including interaction with group systems such as uploads, overrides, supplemental processes, reconciliations, and supporting tools.
  • Understand and extract relevant data to conduct analysis addressing everyday issues with various levels of complexity.
  • Proactively identify, recommend and automate business process improvements that will maximize efficiency and eliminate redundancies and operational risk.
  • Serve as the local specialist for understanding group system enhancements, upgrades, and methodology changes, assessing their implications, and supporting impacted Corporate Actuarial processes.
  • Be the key contact for data solutions internally and with external stakeholders for greater efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain process, systems and data flow landscape documentation.
  • Perform other tasks as reasonably requested to support Corporate Actuarial recurring processes.
  • Keep up to date on all projects and platform initiatives that may have an impact on Corporate Actuarial.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with various business units and global contacts.

Requirements

  • 10+ years' experience in the Canadian Insurance Industry with a focus on actuarial data, requirements and processes
  • Experience working with actuarial data sources, delivering on processes and enhancements for actuaries.
  • Demonstrated experience in process design improvements and automation
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders
  • Proficient in all Microsoft products especially Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effectively work in a team environment and on an individual basis.
  • Insurance based systems knowledge.
