About the Role

The Certified Medication Technician (C.M.T.) provides personal care services, including medication administration, to clients under the direction of a Registered Nurse. This role involves accurately reporting client responses to treatments and maintaining client comfort.

Responsibilities

  • Performs simple nursing care procedures such as range of motion exercises and assistance with ambulation.
  • Provides personal care including bathing, shampooing, skin and oral hygiene, shaving, and dressing.
  • Performs essential household services such as meal preparation, laundry, and light housekeeping.
  • Administers medications as prescribed by a physician under RN supervision and documents in the MAR.
  • Reports observed changes in client condition and needs to the Registered Nurse according to the Care Plan.
  • Documents care provided and client observations, submitting documentation at least weekly.
  • Promotes client safety and a safe environment by observing infection control and reporting unsafe situations.
  • Uses equipment safely after orientation and notifies supervisor of educational needs.
  • Communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team through reports and meetings.
  • Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
  • Attends in-service programs to meet compliance requirements and identifies learning needs.
  • Participates in monthly service-training and performs other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a formal certification training program and/or written skills test and competency evaluation.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Current unrestricted MD Certified Medication Technician License.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow a written plan of care.
  • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Criminal Background Check.
  • Current CPR / 1st Aide Certification.
  • Current Driver’s License or ID Card.
