About the Role
The Commercial Manager will administer all commercial and contractual matters for a specific Project, aiming to minimize commercial risk and maximize opportunity. This role involves identifying and monitoring risks, managing change orders and claims, and forecasting costs to ensure accurate project performance understanding.
Responsibilities
- Administer all commercial and contractual matters relating to a specific Project.
- Minimize commercial risk and maximize opportunity through the identification and monitoring of potential risks.
- Compile potential change orders and claims.
- Record and forecast cost for accurate project performance understanding.
- Ensure commercial processes and procedures are adhered to.
- Develop a culture of commercial awareness across the project.
- Review and respond to all correspondence and meeting records from the Contractor.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities and manage them through to conclusion to minimize STV liability.
- Manage the timely submission of potential change orders in accordance with Project contractual obligations.
- Prepare timely sub-consultant agreements, coordinating scope with appropriate engineering staff.
- Administer sub-consultant agreements to ensure accurate liabilities, timely payments, and issuance of necessary notices.
- Coordinate the management of claims to ensure timely responses.
- Provide accurate Profit and Loss (P-L) and Cost to Complete (CTC) reports in accordance with STV procedures.
- Ensure accurate records are maintained.
- Develop and encourage direct staff to take responsibility for sections of the project.
- Fulfill any other task that can be reasonably within the contemplation of the role.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years' experience with large-scale contracting, preferably within the AEC market.
- Strong financial background with some experience of understanding of contractual law.
- Technical knowledge in commercial, contract, and risk management.
- Exposure to large engineering and construction projects.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to resolve problems independently and operate efficiently under pressure.
- Degree in construction, engineering or related discipline.
- Membership of relevant professional body.
