About the Role

The Risk Control Department is seeking a self-motivated, solution-oriented professional to build data models, tools, and processes that enhance how data is utilized. This role focuses on designing and re-designing data extraction, transformation, and loading processes to improve departmental efficiency and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, evaluate, and design statistical data and reports on a monthly and ad hoc basis.
  • Prepare statistical and narrative reports and recommendations.
  • Participate in the analysis and interpretation of data.
  • Support various project initiatives.
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure quality control of data sources, queries, models, and results.
  • Run existing analytical reports and assist in defining and designing new reports.
  • Utilize data visualization tools to illustrate data trends and patterns.
  • Develop, implement, and enhance data models and data warehouse tables.
  • Develop and implement data query and mining techniques to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Cleanse and normalize data and develop internal control reporting.
  • Assist in the application and implementation of data standards and guidelines.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and remediate data anomalies.
  • Develop self-service reporting and tools for end users, including training.
  • Assist in the testing and implementation of new or upgraded software.
  • Collaborate with management to prioritize business and information needs.
  • Provide data consulting to stakeholders to improve database systems.
  • Educate other analysts on data analyst techniques.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define and document data requirements.
  • Support compliance and audit requirements.
  • Adhere to the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.

Requirements

  • BS in Mathematics, Economics, Business, Risk Management, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, or related fields.
  • Experience as a data analyst in the commercial casualty insurance industry, with emphasis in workers compensation preferred.
  • Adept at query development, report writing, and presenting findings.
  • Understanding of data modeling and data cleansing techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent visual design sense for data presentation.
  • Ability to interact with business and technology experts to determine technical feasibility.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to organize and balance multiple concurrent timelines and tasks.
  • Superb business process analysis and interpersonal skills.
