About the Role

The Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) will assist in the implementation of the children's program, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. This role requires awareness of developmental needs for the assigned age group and adherence to relevant legislation and pedagogical frameworks. The ECA will work within a team-teaching environment under the direction of the ELC Director and Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE).

Responsibilities

Supervise children in a safe and healthy environment.
Assist in establishing daily routines and schedules, providing guidance and consistency.
Prepare and set up program activities under the direction of the RECE.
Assist with brief observation notes on individual children's behavior and responses.
Welcome families and maintain positive, professional relationships.
Discuss observations with the team teacher for inclusion in program plans.
Assist in the day-to-day functions of the classroom in accordance with CCEYA, AQI, and TPH.
Ensure the classroom is organized, including toys and equipment.
Maintain records, program plans, daily care information, and other required documentation.
Assist with opening and closing the Centre when an RECE is on staff.
Participate regularly in supervision as required by agency policy.
Report any signs of child abuse to the Children Aid Society.
Inform the ELC Director and team members of children's illnesses, injuries, and absenteeism with correct documentation.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Early Childhood Assistant certificate, equivalent experience, or currently enrolled in an ECE program.
Standard First Aid Certificate.
Vulnerable Sector Screening Check.
Clean medical check.
Willingness to work with all age groups and demonstrate flexibility.
Willingness to travel to various offices of the Agency or its affiliates as part of duties.
Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check.
Credential verifications and references are required.
