About the Role
As an In-House Legal Counsel II, Accident Benefits, you will focus on being a great lawyer, managing and creatively resolving accident benefits, loss transfer, and priority dispute files. You will work with Canada’s largest in-house P&C insurance litigation team, benefiting from work flexibility, support, and feeling valued.
Responsibilities
- Work with autonomy in your practice and collaborate with a high-performing team of lawyers, adjusters, and legal support professionals.
- Help Intact achieve strategic goals related to indemnity and expense control.
- Handle accident benefits disputes, loss transfer and priority dispute files from beginning to end.
- Appear before the License Appeal Tribunal and prepare written and oral submissions as needed.
- Assess claims with a focus on controlling indemnity while being pragmatic for proactive and efficient resolution.
- Share knowledge and coach Intact colleagues both inside and outside your department.
Requirements
- A member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- Minimum of 5+ years of insurance litigation experience.
- Proven experience in assessing and handling Accident Benefits files.
- Experience at the License Appeal Tribunal.
- Proficiency in technologies, tools, and software programs to optimize operational efficiency and decision making, including but not limited to AI tools, iManage, ACL and the Microsoft Office package of programs.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada from the anticipated start date and throughout their employment and are solely responsible for maintaining their work eligibility.

Salary/Compensations
- 128,300 - 156,800 (based on a 35-hour workweek)
