About the Role

Provide replacement shift coverage and ensure the efficient and qualitative internal and external cleanliness at Sojourn House shelter facilities, operating within an integrated anti-oppression, anti-racist, access and equity framework.

Responsibilities

• Move furniture as may be required for cleaning, repairs or replacement purposes.
• Steam rooms for pest control in accordance with prevention protocols and schedule.
• Clean and sanitize all common areas and shelter washrooms.
• Empty garbage bins daily as per schedule.
• Perform seasonal outdoor maintenance duties, including snow removal, grass cutting, and debris collection.
• Clean office and amenity spaces, including appliances, as assigned.
• Polish and mop waxed floors.
• Operate and maintain all equipment used in the performance of duties, ensuring it remains in safe working order.
• Demonstrate knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including WHMIS and the Occupational Health and Safety Act, as it relates to janitorial duties, cleaning products, and other chemicals.
• Follow safe work practices at all times and use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment as directed.
• Ensure established cleaning and sanitization quality standards are consistently maintained.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a commercial cleaning environment preferred.
• Current WHMIS Certificate required.
• Experience with the use of commercial cleaning equipment required.
• Standard First Aid & CPR Certificate required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to move furniture, garbage bins, and maintenance equipment.
