About the Role
Provide replacement shift coverage and ensure the efficient and qualitative internal and external cleanliness at Sojourn House shelter facilities, operating within an integrated anti-oppression, anti-racist, access and equity framework.
Responsibilities
- Move furniture as may be required for cleaning, repairs or replacement purposes.
- Steam rooms for pest control in accordance with prevention protocols and schedule.
- Clean and sanitize all common areas and shelter washrooms.
- Empty garbage bins daily as per schedule.
- Perform seasonal outdoor maintenance duties, including snow removal, grass cutting, and debris collection.
- Clean office and amenity spaces, including appliances, as assigned.
- Polish and mop waxed floors.
- Operate and maintain all equipment used in the performance of duties, ensuring it remains in safe working order.
- Demonstrate knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including WHMIS and the Occupational Health and Safety Act, as it relates to janitorial duties, cleaning products, and other chemicals.
- Follow safe work practices at all times and use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment as directed.
- Ensure established cleaning and sanitization quality standards are consistently maintained.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a commercial cleaning environment preferred.
- Current WHMIS Certificate required.
- Experience with the use of commercial cleaning equipment required.
- Standard First Aid & CPR Certificate required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to move furniture, garbage bins, and maintenance equipment.
