About the Role
The Benefits Technology Specialist manages Benefits Administration system configuration, testing, and ongoing service. This role partners with account service teams to support client needs, handle annual renewal changes, and present technology solutions to clients.
Responsibilities
- Configure and maintain preferred Benefits Administration systems for qualified clients.
- Test new and existing system functionality using integration, regression, and acceptance test plans.
- Ensure implementations follow project plans and meet quality standards.
- Update systems for annual plan changes, including benefit class matrices, rates, permissions, and site text.
- Build and maintain Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) files.
- Train clients and internal account teams on system usage.
- Collaborate with Employee Benefits producers to present technology solutions to prospects.
- Maintain technical reference documentation, including user guides and training manuals.
- Assist clients with Affordable Care Act (ACA) reporting.
- Develop client relationships and advise on new product and service offerings.
- Resolve client issues by researching and responding to inquiries.
- Stay current on insurance industry changes and relevant legislation.
- Maintain accurate account files and documentation in agency management systems.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 2-4 years of related experience or training.
- Life & Health license preferred.
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits products and services.
- Understanding of legislation such as ACA, COBRA, and HIPAA.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, and regulations.
