About the Role

The Surgical Tech is responsible for direct and indirect professional nursing care to patients, serving as a patient advocate and providing teaching, counseling, and emotional comfort. They provide direct care to assigned patients in conformance with hospital policies, professional standards, physician orders, and the approved plan of care. This role is also responsible for indirect nursing functions and activities of assigned nursing personnel, operating within the limits of the Vermont Nurse Practice Act, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and hospital and nursing department policies and procedures, while supporting the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the nursing department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect professional nursing care to patients.
  • Serve as a patient advocate.
  • Provide teaching, counseling, and emotional comfort to patients and family members.
  • Provide direct care to assigned patients in conformance with hospital policies, professional standards, physician orders, and approved plan of care.
  • Responsible for indirect nursing functions and activities of assigned nursing personnel.
  • Function within limits of Vermont Nurse Practice Act, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and hospital and nursing department policies and procedures.
  • Support philosophy, objectives, and goals of nursing department.
  • Utilize the nursing process in the provision of patient care.
  • Be on call 1 time per week and every 5th weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).

  • Must have at least one year of experience.
  • Able to be on call 1 time per week and every 5th weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).

  • Min $25.18 Mid $32.04 Max $38.90
