About the Role
The Monitor is responsible for supporting the transportation of clients in a safe and efficient manner, consistent with the organizational mission and vision and in compliance with company policy and applicable laws.
Responsibilities
- Assist driver with directions as needed.
- Take attendance of clients.
- Interact with clients, program personnel, and client support staff.
- Communicate with dispatch clearly and concisely.
- De-escalate conflicts between clients and report them.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ensure transportation and workplace safety policies comply with regulations.
- Safely transport clients to and from programs.
- Ensure the bus is always kept clean.
- Ensure the safety of all clients, including securing wheelchair-bound clients.
- Operate the wheelchair lift and check its working condition.
- Check the working condition of seatbelts.
- Keep routes updated and dispatch informed of any issues.
- Report all disciplinary issues to operations staff.
- Assist clients with getting on and off the bus.
- Be flexible and assist other routes as needed.
- Work as a member of a team.
- Attend periodic safety trainings.
- Buckle client's seatbelts and check periodically that clients remain buckled.
- Fill out run sheet data.
- Be dependable and on time.
- Perform other job duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to pull and push 250 lbs.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
- Ability to bend to secure wheelchair-bound clients
- Ability to display empathy towards clients
- Willingness to grow within the company.
Skills
- Transportation industry experience
- Experience with transportation, logistics, or navigation software
- Experience using electronics and tablets
- Experience in transporting individuals who have developmental disabilities
- First aid qualified
