About the Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role involves driving established routes to collect donated clothing and household items from customer homes and charity bins, and delivering them to corporate partners and storage facilities.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission of the National Diabetes Trust to the public and volunteers
• Maintain knowledge of organizational goals, services, and structure
• Operate vehicles safely and in compliance with laws and regulations
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Complete and submit daily paperwork and Hours-of-Service logs
• Carry required documentation including driver's license, registration, and safety certificates
• Check in with dispatch at the beginning, middle, and end of routes
• Provide message cards to donors
• Log all assigned pickups
• Unload merchandise as instructed
• Return equipment to the office daily
• Report route discrepancies to dispatch
• Ensure only authorized personnel ride in the truck
• Participate in required driving-related education and procedures

Requirements

• Grade 12 education or equivalent experience
• Ability to handle 10-50 lbs loads
• Ability to drive a 3-Ton (16 foot) straight truck
• Full Class 5 and/or G license or higher
• Minimum 5 years of driving experience (or 2 years with professional commercial vehicle training)
• Clean driver abstract (less than 21 days old) with no violations or accidents in the last 3 years
• Legally eligible to work in Canada
