About the Role
This hands-on Marketing & Communications Intern opportunity at Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas allows college students and recent graduates to gain real-world experience in nonprofit marketing, focusing on storytelling, donor engagement, and brand elevation, while making a meaningful impact.
Responsibilities
- Assist in identifying and crafting wish stories for newsletters, website features, press releases, donor engagement, and other marketing materials.
- Develop and schedule content for primary social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and manage the editorial calendar.
- Design marketing collateral for events, including programs, signage, and PowerPoint decks.
- Capture photo and video content at wish reveal parties, galas, and other internal/external events.
- Become a trained Wish Granter to complete wish discovery interviews and host send-offs and wish reveals.
- Assist Mission team with department needs.
Requirements
- Must have reliable transportation to travel across chapter territory as needed.
- Ability to learn quickly, work independently, problem-solve, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be detail-oriented.
- Must be comfortable making phone calls on behalf of the organization.
- Professionally represent the Make-A-Wish® brand with internal and external stakeholders.
- Displays professionalism and quality customer service and delivery skills.
- Ability to deal with sensitive information with a high level of trust and confidentiality.
- Must include a story-based/PR/media writing sample or social media copy samples with application.
