About the Role
Under limited supervision, analyze business and functional requirements to establish processes for managing internal and external data for data-driven initiatives. Evaluate business requests, recommend analytic solutions, and communicate the value of data solutions to the enterprise.
Responsibilities
- Develop, validate, document, and maintain business and functional requirements and process workflows for new data solutions.
- Analyze data needs to support key strategic initiatives.
- Facilitate and educate business units about current data assets.
- Assist in developing data strategy plans to acquire new data assets.
- Develop robust data models and schemas within Snowflake to support analytical workloads.
- Analyze existing and new data sources to expand and improve the data-driven culture.
- Build business case templates to support decision-making for future use cases and solutions.
- Create meaningful data visualizations and/or advanced wireframes to articulate stories to colleagues and executives.
- Respond to questions from business and IT teams.
- Assist in evaluating and tracking new or enhanced solutions to determine potential issues and communicate impact.
- Recommend solutions to potential issues.
- Perform task automation and implement process improvements.
- Recommend enhancements for increased quality and service.
- Carry out the full spectrum of data analysis for specialist datasets, including developing statistical/machine learning analysis plans, designing database schemas, data cleansing, and creating new insights.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or related field.
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or related field preferred.
- 5+ Years of reporting/advanced analytic/business intelligence related experience (e.g., Business Analysis, Data Analysis, Statistical Analysis).
- 5+ Years of experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry.
- Strong Japanese and English language proficiency.
- Advanced PC and technical skills, including statistical programs (R, SAS, MATLAB, or Python), spreadsheets (VBA), and database applications (Access, Oracle, SQL or equivalent).
- Advanced SQL expertise and hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools.
- Proficient with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with predictive modeling and automation is a plus.
- Experience in Insurance and Actuarial knowledge preferred.
- Advanced knowledge in econometrics, statistics, math and/or computational finance.
- Ability to adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions.
- Ability to work well within a team environment, participate in projects, and balance detail with departmental objectives.
- Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
