About the Role
The Project Architect is responsible for the architectural aspects of development from design through construction documents and specifications. This role involves leading internal teams, coordinating consultants, ensuring code compliance, and supporting project managers during the construction phase. The position requires challenging the status quo, embracing discovery, and taking on leadership within projects and teams.
Responsibilities

- Collaborate with the design team to develop a coherent design concept and narrative, ensuring the project story and design intent are maintained.
- Lead the design of architectural documents from schematic design through construction documents, adhering to quality and technical standards.
- Collaborate with Project Managers on work plans, schedules, resources, and budgets, refining as needed.
- Lead internal coordination of technical staff, consultants, engineers, and contractors for technical accuracy and alignment with project objectives.
- Cultivate strong client relationships, participate in client meetings, and maintain high client satisfaction.
- Lead the creation of addenda and bid phase documentation.
- Support Project Managers in site visits, field reports, and construction administration tasks, monitoring progress against design intent and quality standards.
- Oversee the architectural team’s review of submittals and answer contractor questions during construction.
- Represent the firm in owner-architect-contractor meetings when required.
- Oversee code compliance and coordinate with regulatory agencies for approvals.
- Drive research on building systems, materials, and technologies to support innovation.
- Lead internal design reviews and provide constructive technical feedback.
- Oversee lessons-learned discussions during post-occupancy evaluation and ensure insights are shared and incorporated into future projects.
- Partner with the Project Manager to lead end-of-phase reviews and coordination of all related documents and disciplines.
- Participate in and lead project teams, ensuring effective collaboration during construction document production.
- Serve as a key leader within the organization, contributing to strategic initiatives.
- Coach and support junior staff, fostering collaboration and professional development in technical skills.
- Support architectural staff in pursuit of licensure and provide opportunities to earn AXP hours.
Requirements

- Extensive knowledge of architecture principles and practices.
- Demonstrated proficiency in projects of above-average size and complexity, ensuring excellence, technical accuracy, and timely delivery.
- Extensive experience producing detailed construction documents and specifications.
- Experience in educational projects is required.
- Proficiency in Revit is essential.
- Experience with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office products is highly preferred.
- Strong project-level leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships internally and externally and effectively lead project teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, with strong organization skills and attention to detail.
- Extensive knowledge of building codes, regulations, construction processes, and project documentation.
- Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including consultants, engineers, and contractors, to align on project objectives and standards.
- Ability and prior experience overseeing and guiding project teams.
- Professional degree in Architecture is required.
- Licensed Architect in the state of Texas is required.
- Minimum of eight years of architectural experience.
