About the Role
This role contributes to strategically significant organisational and policy questions across Ofcom's remit. The successful candidate will coordinate delivery teams and engage with internal and external stakeholders, working across all regulated sectors.
Responsibilities
- Managing strategic projects, including timelines, budget, governance, and stakeholder management.
- Taking an active role in setting project direction in dialogue with senior stakeholders.
- Overseeing or leading the delivery of high-quality reports and presenting results.
- Proactively managing and mitigating risks.
- Occasionally acting as Project Director, with responsibility for output quality and liaising with internal clients.
- Leading policy development in specific areas and providing advice.
- Developing and applying intellectually robust analytical approaches for commercial, public policy, or organisational issues.
- Contributing to debates about strategic, policy, and organisational issues, providing thought leadership.
- Representing Ofcom at external meetings and developing an external network.
- Managing, motivating, and developing junior colleagues.
- Contributing to the ongoing development of the team and Ofcom as an excellent place to work.
Requirements
- Demonstrable skills in executing plans, leading teams across projects, and managing progress against deadlines.
- Ability to shape projects and proactively identify necessary work.
- Experience leading strategic policy development, commercial strategy analysis, or internal corporate strategy and planning.
- Clear communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to produce publication-ready text and tailor arguments.
- Ability to produce effective presentations, including strong PowerPoint skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from different teams, specialisms, and backgrounds.
- Ability to effectively manage upwards and proactively mitigate risks.
- Understanding of commercial dynamics in Ofcom's sectors.
- Familiarity with quantitative modelling of consumer trends and/or business finances.
- Undergraduate-equivalent knowledge of economics, public policy, or politics.
