About the Role
Join the Red Hat Satellite Engineering team as a Software Engineer in Raleigh, NC. This role offers an opportunity to gain experience in both development and quality engineering, contributing to the robustness, reliability, and performance of our solutions. You will work on Red Hat Satellite, a system management platform for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) infrastructure, built on open-source projects like Foreman and Katello.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and development of features and bug fixes for software solutions.
- Define test coverage and write/maintain automated tests for bugs and new features.
- Collaborate with team members on analyzing and fixing project bugs.
- Incorporate feedback from team members during PR reviews.
- Collaborate across time zones and geolocations with cross-functional teams.
- Publicly communicate planned changes to developers and users, gathering input.
- Work on prototypes for new enhancements and experiment with new tools.
- Demonstrate contributions to stakeholders and the community.
Requirements
- Knowledge and experience in software development using Python, Ruby on Rails, or React (JavaScript).
- Familiarity with writing tests (unit, integration, end-to-end) using testing frameworks like Pytest.
- Experience working with Linux operating systems, command line, and file system navigation.
- Basic understanding of relational databases and database interaction concepts.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to solve technical issues independently.
- Effective communication in English (written and verbal).
- Experience with Git or other version control systems.
- Passion for continuous learning and staying updated with new technologies.
