About the Role
This internship offers an introductory look into the Energy Efficiency Industry in New York State, focusing on residential and small business energy audits to identify efficiency upgrades. It covers NYSERDA programs, benefits, incentives, and eligibility requirements, emphasizing the importance of understanding incentives for project cost reduction and implementation.
Responsibilities
- Conduct energy audits of residential homes and small businesses.
- Identify energy efficiency upgrades for customers.
- Provide overviews of NYSERDA program benefits and incentives.
- Understand eligibility requirements for energy efficiency programs.
- Model energy usage and projects using various software.
- Submit documents and projects to multiple programs.
- Perform site inspections.
- Communicate with customers regarding energy efficiency projects.
- Prepare professional documents for customers.
- Assist with scheduling.
- Gain exposure to construction management.
- Engage in actual energy efficiency work.
Requirements
- Must be currently attending or have attended a degree program at a college or university in New York State within the last 12 months.
- Must be a current New York State resident attending or have attended a college or university outside of New York State within the last 12 months, with proof of residency established prior to the internship start.
- Must be a New York State resident who is a member of a disadvantaged community and/or Priority Population.
