About the Role

Arcadis is seeking a talented Senior Road Designer for its Toronto West office. This role involves creating iconic and ground-breaking structures and spaces, partnering with clients globally to design thriving and connected cities and communities. The position focuses on designing sustainable mobility solutions that integrate infrastructure with new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary and detailed designs for municipal and linear infrastructure, including grading, drainage, utility layouts, and construction specifications.
• Coordinate with the CAD standards group to maintain drafting and modeling standards.
• Collaborate with other design disciplines for multidisciplinary integration and issue resolution.
• Assist junior designers with design concepts and software questions, providing guidance and mentorship.
• Lead and contribute to the planning, preliminary, and detailed design of roadways and highways.
• Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal design standards (e.g., TAC, OTM, MTO Design Supplements).
• Perform quantity takeoffs, cost estimating, and design calculations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, or Engineering Technology with a focus on Transportation or Municipal.
• 5+ or more years of experience in road design, municipal and civil engineering, and transportation planning.
• Experience in managing small projects and studies is welcome.
• Proficiency in preparing engineering drawings, 3D models, and specifications using tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and OpenRoads.
• Must possess a collaborative attitude in working with other members of a road and transportation team.
• Must be able to work independently with direction and supervision as needed.
