About the Role

VytlOne has an exciting opening for an experienced, per diem customer-focused Staff Pharmacist at our Hudson Headwaters Health Network in Malone, NY. This role will cover the Pharmacist in Charge during absences.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and fill drug orders.
  • Provide patient information and counseling.
  • Act as the alternate store leader in the absence of the Pharmacist-In-Charge/Pharmacy Manager.
  • Confer with physicians regarding prescription questions or irregularities.
  • Dispense prescriptions, compounds, and prepare I.V. admixtures.
  • Monitor drug therapy for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness.
  • Maintain patients’ medication records.
  • Maintain inventory and records of controlled drugs and other drugs as required by law.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians.
  • Provide drug information to professional staff and patients.
  • Participate in inventory control programs.
  • Attend and participate in required facility or pharmacy programs, committees, meetings, and functions.
  • Participate in educational programs for professional staff.
  • Participate in pharmacy orientation programs, staff meetings, and in-service educational programs.
  • Participate in activities resolving unsafe and unsanitary practices.
  • Exemplify excellence in customer communications and service.
  • Work cooperatively with other staff members.
  • Participate in the Performance Improvement Program.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Promptly report any allegations of impropriety to the Compliance Department.
  • Comply with Maxor’s Ethical Business Conduct policy and Compliance Program.
  • Remain free from exclusion under the OIG and SAMS Medicare/Medicaid lists.
  • Complete required training and ensure departmental staff training is completed.
  • Cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Ensure staff are informed of product upgrades or enhancements.
  • Assist management with hiring and training competent staff.
  • Verify departmental timesheets for accuracy.
  • Develop and mentor departmental staff, provide career coaching, motivate staff, understand and support diversity, and establish an effective team.
  • Assist with conducting initial and annual performance evaluations.
  • Promote teamwork and discipline staff when warranted.

Requirements

  • One year’s experience as a practicing pharmacist is preferred.
  • Retail experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of drugs and their indications, contraindications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Knowledge of policies and regulations pertaining to the disbursement of pharmaceutical drugs.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Ability to supervise and train assigned staff.
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements (if applicable).
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Ability to assume essential responsibilities and duties in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager.
