About the Role

This role supports the Deployment, Service, and Structured Cabling divisions by providing network and point of sale hardware installation, maintenance, and service. You will troubleshoot and maintain commercial data, voice, fiber optic, paging, security, audio/visual, and cabling systems, while educating customers on equipment usage and addressing their concerns. This position collaborates closely with the Service Department Manager, Project Manager(s), and Customers to ensure successful completion of onsite field service work requests.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with customers for staging and installation of network and point of sale hardware.
  • Load customer provided image files on customer provided network equipment.
  • Inventory and organize customer staging and storage areas.
  • Visit customer sites to install hardware per specific instructions.
  • Work with customer helpdesk and IT support to confirm hardware is online and operating.
  • Accurately document and report issues encountered during installations.
  • Collect and document hardware-specific information and enter into the customer inventory management system.
  • Ensure work is completed on time, satisfactorily, and following customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Travel regionally and work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and on-call.
  • Drive a company vehicle, use hand tools, climb ladders, and use scissor lifts.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, and report accidents, hazards, and equipment problems.
  • Attend and participate in company meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic to advanced technical skills with installation, service, troubleshooting, and maintaining of commercial data, voice, fiber optic, paging, security, audio/visual, and cabling systems.
  • Solid understanding of PC components, PC hardware, and associated software.
  • Industry-specific Manufacturer Certifications and BICSI training and/or Certifications preferred but not required.
  • Strong working knowledge of TIA and BICSI Standards, including troubleshooting and service preferred but not required.
  • Working knowledge of building codes, electrical codes, communication standards, and installation.
  • Ability to follow blueprints, notes, and specifications.
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with construction and adherence to large and small project scheduling.
  • Enjoys hands-on problem-solving in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a professional team.
