Responsibilities
- Manage the firm's active claims bordereau, including monitoring, chasing claims, and financial management.
- Assist Head of Claims and Senior Claims Lawyer on complex claims, including file reading, chronologies, and email responses.
- Handle and manage internal claims based on complexity and value.
- Liaise with insurers/brokers on bordereau and file updates.
- Liaise with the Finance Team on claims provisions.
- Supervise juniors in maintaining the internal bordereau.
- Assist with claims comments for bi-annual Team Partner Reports.
- Analyze claims data, including root cause data, to identify trends.
- Investigate fee-earning teams with issues and assist in finding solutions to prevent claims and enforce risk management policies.
- Follow up on process changes and training to assess their impact on claim reduction.
- Assist the Head of Professional Indemnity with the annual renewal process.
- Conduct monthly audits and queries for the insurer safe regarding client valuables storage.
- Analyze PIU data and report to insurers under D&O cover, including updating the schedule of appointments.
- Review client or supplier terms and conditions, tenders, and handle insurance document requests.
Requirements
- Experience in investigating, notifying, and handling professional indemnity claims independently and with senior team members.
- Experience gained within private practice, in-house law firm, or insurance firm.
- Good knowledge of professional indemnity insurance claims processes and law firm operating processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify root causes and trends of claims/insurance risks and determine appropriate risk management solutions.
- Experience in identifying, implementing, and monitoring process improvements.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including experience dealing with senior stakeholders and liaising with brokers.
- Ability to manage sensitive matters and communications effectively.
- Ability to work to deadlines and prioritize urgent matters.
- Good organizational skills.
- Experience mentoring and supervising junior staff.
