About the Role
We are seeking a Creature / Character Modeler with experience in creating photorealistic fantasy and real-life creatures/characters for VFX projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of character/creature workflows in VFX, a keen eye for detail to match onset data, and the ability to translate reference material into fantasy creatures. Familiarity with downstream departments (Rigging, CFX, Animation) and human/creature anatomy is essential. Experience with Facial modeling utilizing FACS for both human and animal subjects is also required. A portfolio demonstrating these skills is necessary for consideration.
Responsibilities
- Build models with good/clean topology and UVs.
- Final shots using shot sculpting.
- Build and present anatomical diagnostics of creatures.
- Sculpt displacement maps for characters/creatures.
- Model clothing that matches photogrammetry data sets for digital doubles.
- Create FACS-based face shapes that function within OOU's facial pipeline.
- Contribute to workflow and pipeline discussions for characters and creatures.
- Assist in documenting workflows as needed.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Experience using Maya, Zbrush, Mush 3d, Wrap 3d (Optical flow set ups and processing of FACS data).
- Experienced in shot sculpting.
- Experience in modeling LODs and simulation/technical meshes for creatures.
- Understanding of rigging, animation, and CFX requirements.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Team-oriented crew member with good communication skills.
- Must have a current and full work permit for the region of employment.
- Disclose if sponsorship support is needed.
