About the Role
STACK is seeking a Security Systems Engineer in Japan to manage the deployment of Physical Security Systems. This role involves developing best practices, defining technical vision, and introducing new solutions to enhance customer experience. The engineer will collaborate with various teams throughout the security systems lifecycle, aiming to create standardized solutions for multiple sites and improve regional data center visibility and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Operational Technology team on security system deployment for new and existing buildings.
- Plan and solution security systems for new projects.
- Review security systems design with consultants, creating design principles, markups, and reports as needed.
- Assist in developing security engineering standards, guidelines, and Basis of Design (BOD).
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders for continuous improvement of Security Systems platforms.
- Assist in evaluating security tenders for vendors and manage their progress.
- Perform periodic inspections and track installation, programming, and testing progress during construction.
- Create hardware inventory/matrix of security devices and assist in developing test scripts for Commissioning.
- Liaise and coordinate with the Delivery team on security systems during construction.
- Work with technology partners to support internal teams in project delivery and commissioning.
- Manage and review security systems programming with vendors for new and existing buildings, including network settings, device management, video recording, access control, GUI setup, integration, alarms, and backups.
- Provide input to local Security Operations and Critical Operations Teams on system reliability, maintenance, and improvements.
- Serve as an escalation point in the Operational Technology team, advising local operations during security system incidents.
- Provide technical assistance to local Security Operations and maintenance vendors for troubleshooting security system issues.
- Provide technical assistance to ensure system maintenance, restarts, upgrades, and planned activities meet or exceed standards, including managing activity reports.
Requirements
- Must have at least six (6) to eight (8) years of experience in the management, deployment, or maintenance of physical security, monitoring, and alarm systems for Data Centres or other related mission critical facilities.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in administering and managing facility preventative maintenance programs is preferred.
- Candidates with training experience in various security products (Genetec, Axis Communications, Hanwha Vision, Mercury, HID, Gallagher) are strongly preferred.
- Any other certifications with other security Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) will are preferred.
- Must have operational knowledge of physical security systems, such as: Integrated Security Management System (ISMS); Video Surveillance System (VSS)/CCTV; Electrical Access Control System (EACS); Perimeter Intrusion Detection System (IDS); Video Intercom System (VIS); Electronic Key Management System (EKMS); Physical security barriers (anti-tailgating barriers, vehicle gates/barriers).
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal staff.
- Ability to coordinate, supervise, and communicate with contractors who perform maintenance in the data center.
- Good interpersonal skills, must be a team player, and can follow direction.
- Must be able to attain and hold any applicable safety training/card/credential in Japan to go into construction sites.
