About the Role

The Pastry Demi Chef reports directly to the Pastry Sous Chef – Pastry and offers an energetic and exciting hands-on approach to flawless product execution in an environment focused on safety and culinary excellence. This is a fantastic opportunity to create unforgettable dessert experiences that leave a lasting impression on every guest.

Responsibilities

  • Support or lead the assigned section as directed by the Sous Chef and provide training to junior staff members
  • Assist with fundamental cooking and food preparation tasks
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and workstations
  • Complete all duties in line with company and statutory hygiene requirements
  • Meet requirements for consistency and high quality in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

  • Culinary School Graduate. Received apprenticeship training in Pastry
  • Proficiency with diverse food preparation techniques and cooking equipment.
  • 2 years of experience post apprenticeship in food preparation, preferably in a café, hotels or high-volume setting, with strong communication skills and understanding of relevant liquor laws.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • You are passionate and creative, willing to share your skills and expertise in guiding and shaping those who are new to the pastry kitchen.
  • Exceptional communication skills, enjoy collaborating with colleagues and management as well as interacting with our customers.
  • Bring a proactive, positive attitude to every task and are committed to consistently delivering high standards.
  • Eligibility checks are required as part of the recruitment process and ongoing employment for this position.
