About the Role
Lead a small team of Grants Officers to deliver vital client support, managing a team of six and determining applications for legal aid within policy guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of six Grants Officers.
- Conduct regular individual and team meetings.
- Handle escalated phone calls from clients, inhouse and private lawyers.
- Monitor a mailbox on a rotational basis and respond to correspondence.
- Determine applications for legal aid across a range of matters in family or criminal law.
- Contribute to the development of systems and practices.
- Manage the allocation of day-to-day operations.
Requirements
- Hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing roles) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary roles).
- Undertake relevant pre-employment checks such as Criminal Record Check and Conduct Service Check.
- Experienced team leader with strong analytical and management skills.
- Proven ability to deliver high quality, client focused services.
- Experience leading and developing teams, setting clear expectations, and managing performance.
- Ability to supervise up to six employees while balancing operational responsibilities.
- Confident communicator able to effectively engage with stakeholders.
- Ability to handle complex or sensitive matters with professionalism.
- Demonstrate integrity, accountability, and resilience.
- Ability to manage competing priorities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement.
- Support efficient, high quality service delivery.
