About the Role

This pivotal leadership position is accountable for the stability, security, and evolution of technology platforms shared across the IELTS partnership, including global collaborators like the British Council and Cambridge Assessment English. The role involves steering the strategic direction, governance, and operational execution of the IELTS partnership technology ecosystem, supporting one of the world's most esteemed English language testing platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end management and delivery of the shared IELTS technology estate, ensuring exceptional performance, resilience, adaptability, and scalability.
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve a robust technology governance framework for transparency, decision-making, ownership, and accountability among stakeholders.
  • Develop and drive the execution of a unified, strategic technology roadmap aligned with IELTS partnership priorities and future innovation.
  • Coordinate cross-partner collaboration, managing dependencies, risks, and delivery conflicts for seamless integration and shared success.
  • Champion operational excellence in platform operations, ensuring high availability, top-tier vendor management, service quality, and incident management.
  • Maintain stringent oversight of risk management, regulatory compliance, cybersecurity, and data protection for all shared systems.
  • Engage with global technology and business leaders to promote shared understanding, foster collaboration, and advance partnership technology capabilities.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership excellence in delivering complex, large-scale technology programmes in multifaceted, multi-stakeholder, multi-organisational environments.
  • Advanced expertise in technology governance frameworks, risk management methodologies, and compliance requirements for large international technology ecosystems.
  • In-depth knowledge of enterprise platform architectures, digital product delivery principles, and Agile/DevOps methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills to align diverse senior stakeholders across organisational boundaries.
  • Experience working within partnership or consortium-led delivery models, particularly with global or joint-ownership structures.
  • High adaptability and emotional intelligence to navigate varying organisational cultures and operational dynamics.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to anticipate challenges and devise proactive mitigation strategies.
