About the Role
Sigma is seeking a Senior Product Designer / Design Engineer to join their design team. This role focuses on the intersection of interaction design and AI engineering, utilizing AI to accelerate design processes, build and improve AI skills, and invent new interaction paradigms for intelligent systems.
Responsibilities
- Use LLMs to clarify scope, draft specs, surface edge cases, and align teams.
- Utilize AI coding tools to build and iterate on solutions, merging code to production when appropriate.
- Prototype interfaces in code using tools like Cursor and Claude Code, guiding structure, behavior, interaction, motion, and UX quality.
- Partner with engineering to determine which elements move into the product.
- Fix interaction and refinement issues directly on production code.
- Design new AI interaction paradigms for conversational interfaces, inventing and validating novel patterns for user interaction with AI systems.
- Build evaluation frameworks, reusable skills, and tooling to ensure AI reliability and improvement.
- Iterate on evaluations and training to improve AI performance on design output.
- Define and set the standard for AI-native UX at Sigma, establishing patterns and principles for the team.
Requirements
- 4+ years in interaction design or design engineering with recent hands-on AI tooling experience.
- Demonstrated use of AI coding assistants to ship real product.
- Experience writing evals, agents, prompt libraries, or skills for AI systems.
- Strong interaction design fundamentals.
- Opinions about AI UX, including trust signals, error recovery, and progressive disclosure of reasoning.
- Exceptional ability to communicate design decisions to PMs, engineers, ML researchers, and executives.
- A portfolio that includes AI-powered or AI-adjacent product work.
