About the Role

As a Senior Data Scientist II, you will focus on search relevance, creating next-generation techniques to improve how users find answers to research questions. You will collaborate across teams, mentor junior staff, and drive best practices while leveraging cutting-edge AI and machine learning technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Solve complex problems in natural language processing, machine learning, and information retrieval.
  • Research, build, and deploy models using shallow and deep machine learning.
  • Train robust NLP-based models on large corpora of news and financial data.
  • Apply machine learning techniques to improve search algorithms.
  • Drive best practices for NLP and machine learning pipelines.
  • Maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art ML algorithms, APIs, and open-source methods.
  • Translate complex business requirements into actionable stories with time estimates.
  • Collaborate with product leaders to apply data science solutions.
  • Support the development and training of junior staff.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience using NLP tools and methods such as OpenNLP, Stanford NLP, LDA, Gensim, and spaCy.
  • Proficiency in big data technologies including Hadoop, Spark, or AWS.
  • Advanced programming skills in Python, R, or other relevant languages.
  • Experience working with large language models and transformer-based architectures like BERT, RoBERTa, and T5.
  • Experience using machine learning packages such as scikit-learn, pandas, and NumPy.
  • Knowledge of applying LLMs including ChatGPT, GPT 3.5, Claude, and Mistral.
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms including deep learning, gradient boosting, and random forests.
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior data scientists.
  • Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills.
