About the Role

As Head of Tax – Global, you will lead MUFG Pension & Market Services’ global tax function, ensuring full compliance with corporate and indirect tax obligations across all jurisdictions while providing trusted, commercial tax advice to the business. You will operate as a senior business partner to the CFO, executive leadership team and global stakeholders, with a strong focus on tax risk management, governance, transfer pricing and supporting strategic initiatives such as acquisitions, restructures and international expansion.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the global tax lead and primary point of contact with tax authorities across all jurisdictions in which MUFG Pension & Market Services operates
  • Partner with senior leaders and business units (Finance, Legal, HR, Technology, Treasury) to resolve complex tax matters and embed tax-effective, compliant outcomes into operations and supplier arrangements
  • Lead tax risk management and governance, including development and maintenance of frameworks aligned to the Tax Risk Management and Governance Policy
  • Oversee global direct and indirect tax compliance, ensuring accurate, timely filings and robust procedures across all entities
  • Provide expert advice on transfer pricing, capital management, inter-group arrangements, debt vs equity funding and cross-border transactions
  • Support and advise on strategic projects including acquisitions, divestments, restructures and entry into new jurisdictions
  • Manage tax accounting, effective tax rate determination and tax effect accounting for management, statutory and group reporting
  • Lead, coach and develop a global team of tax professionals, while managing relationships with external advisors and regulators

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Law
  • CA, CPA or CTA qualification
  • 10+ years’ experience in large multinational organisations or top-tier accounting firms, operating at Senior Manager or Director level
  • Strong understanding of Australian tax legislation, with exposure to UK, Irish and New Zealand taxation highly regarded
  • Demonstrated experience in tax risk management, governance frameworks and transfer pricing
  • Proven ability to lead tax functions across international entities, partnering effectively with senior executives and global stakeholders
  • Experience managing tax accounting, reporting and compliance under current accounting standards
  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach with the confidence to operate autonomously at executive level
  • Excellent written, verbal and numerate skills, with strong systems capability (e.g. CCH Integrator or similar)
