About the Role
As a Retention Director, you will join a high-performing Digital team to drive and deliver Sephora Canada’s business goals. You will partner closely with Marketing, Merchandising, Promo/Loyalty, Campaigns & Content, Creative, Tech, CRM, and Analytics to shape retention strategy and activate it through best-in-class marketing across Email, App Push, and SMS. You will lead a team of 6 marketers who own broadcast, triggered/lifecycle, and transactional programs.
Responsibilities
- Own retention channels (Email, App Push, SMS), hitting ambitious sales targets and engagement KPIs while amplifying Sephora's brand.
- Craft and execute our retention calendar, aligning with key trading moments and promotions to ensure goals are met through disciplined prioritization.
- Forecast and manage financial objectives, expertly identifying levers to consistently achieve targets.
- Establish a dynamic rhythm for performance monitoring and analysis, continuously enhancing results.
- Define and evolve Canada's retention strategy, perfectly tailored to customer preferences and market dynamics.
- Ensure market-relevant localization, including impactful French-language communications and Quebec-specific considerations.
- Partner with Analytics to transform data into powerful insights, driving strategic updates and program enhancements.
- Lead best practices, sharing performance and learnings with stakeholders and executive leadership.
- Identify and implement improvements that increase efficiency and speed-to-market.
- Collaborate with US counterparts to ensure Canadian needs are integrated into global strategies.
- Design and deliver a seamless, optimized customer journey across all communication touchpoints.
- Lead our retention data strategy, leveraging advanced analytics and testing to uncover insights and fuel impactful initiatives.
- Drive the strategic growth of our app, identifying and executing strategies to boost engagement and loyalty.
- Define annual and quarterly priorities for Retention Marketing, focusing on growth and strategic local initiatives.
- Build strong relationships and alignment with key partners across marketing, tech, and creative teams.
- Lead your team to plan and deliver retention campaigns with high-quality, on-time execution.
- Manage and develop a team of 6, providing coaching, feedback, and growth pathways to foster high-performing talent.
Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant experience in Retention Marketing, including Email, App Push, and SMS.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including storytelling skills to senior audiences.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively.
- Strong business acumen, particularly with how Retention Marketing drives sales, engagement, and lifetime value.
- Knowledge of the current retention marketing landscape, industry trends, and marketing attribution models.
- Proven ability to take initiative, stay flexible, and excel in fast-paced, high-volume and deadline-driven environments.
- Well-organized, project and results oriented with high attention to detail.
- Ability to extract both quantitative and qualitative insights to improve campaigns and develop a data-driven center of excellence.
- Ability to travel to the San Francisco office based on business needs.
