About the Role
Lead all phases of design coordination, construction project management, procurement, and financial reporting for new projects and renovations related to Fragrance and Beauty, Watches and Fine Jewelry, Fashion, and Corporate offices in Canada. Demonstrate brand image command, adhere to global guidelines, and collaborate with other business units.
Responsibilities
- Manage project management and execution for all new F&B, Fashion, WFJ, and Corporate builds and renovations throughout all phases.
- Adapt drawings and concept renderings received from the UK regional Store Planning team for local use.
- Design and coordinate back-of-house stockrooms and operational spaces.
- Hire and collaborate with local professionals to prepare full working drawing packages for permit, tender, and construction.
- Work closely with internal cross-functional teams to understand their needs and integrate operational requirements into the design.
- Prepare planning, budgeting, and forecasting for assigned projects and review with stakeholders.
- Provide monthly reports to the Head of Store Planning on all active projects.
- Perform site visits as needed and collaborate with CHANEL’s Repair and Maintenance Manager to ensure brand image standards are maintained.
- Obtain approval for proposed designs and ensure detailing, specification, and project management meet high standards.
- Update the Project Critical Path to ensure designs are on time and on budget.
- Manage and ensure rapid and efficient work output.
- Manage, review, and implement the design of audio visual, security, information technology, lighting, and loss prevention systems.
- Work with the landlord’s tenant coordination team and negotiate favorable outcomes for the brand.
- Ensure landlord’s handover conditions meet brand standards and executed lease documents.
- Select and award contracts to general contractors, suppliers, and consultant teams.
- Lead construction site walk-throughs with external and internal team members.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies between approved drawings and site conditions without affecting timeline and budget.
- Issue status reports to regional and local teams during the construction process.
- Inspect the quality of all finishes, furniture, materials, and products on site.
- Work with suppliers on replacements if required.
- Effectively manage shopfitters to ensure timely, high-quality delivery and installation of CHANEL millwork.
- Oversee site control and inspection of installation, ensuring compliance with local building and health and safety regulations.
- Review and approve shop drawings.
- Ensure timely delivery of components to site and distribution of relevant drawings to relevant parties.
- Collaborate with the CFO to ensure design works remain within agreed budgets.
- Manage and code incoming and outgoing invoices and payments efficiently and accurately.
- Write and issue Purchase Orders (POs) using COUPA and coordinate with finance for payments.
- Manage directly procured product shipments from various suppliers.
- Work with customs brokers to clear goods at the border.
- Arrange for the delivery of goods from the border to a local storage facility or construction site.
- Ensure negotiated quotes with suppliers offer the best value and quality.
- Ensure insurance and warranties are included where possible.
- Adhere to CHANEL’s procurement policy, green guidelines, and sustainability efforts.
- Collaborate with legal and leasing teams on lease documents related to store design and construction.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10+ years of retail store design experience on client or agency side.
- Degree in Interior Design or Architecture or equivalent experience working on similar luxury retail projects for a minimum of 10 years.
- Strong comprehension of architectural and engineering drawings.
- Confidence and practical understanding of a construction site.
- Travel within Canada for 30% of the role.
