About the Role
The Manager, Public Relations will support media relations and thought leadership for Oatly's North American business, market, and product growth. This role partners with various internal functions and the global PR team, embodying Oatly's unique approach to communication.
Responsibilities
- Input into and execute Oatly’s North American Public Relations strategy to promote strategic priorities and manage brand reputation.
- Build, maintain, and strengthen key reporter relationships and engage with media and external partners.
- Assist in securing strategic press coverage across print, digital, and broadcast media.
- Manage day-to-day relationships with PR agencies, influencer agencies, and external support.
- Collaborate and coordinate work with public relations colleagues globally.
- Monitor and identify relevant entry points for the brand’s voice within the broader cultural narrative.
- Act as the comms partner for North American nutrition and sustainability directors, leading mission-based storytelling.
- Serve as an external communications strategic partner for cross-functional teams.
- Provide PR support for new account launches, partnerships, or other announcements.
- Communicate with key internal stakeholders and third-party partners to ensure information accuracy.
- Assist in crisis communications scenarios.
- Identify, prep, and staff strategic event and speaking engagement opportunities.
- Identify and oversee the creation/submission of applications for industry recognitions and awards.
- Develop press materials such as press releases, bios, fact sheets, Q&As, and media interview backgrounders.
- Monitor industry trends, identify key insights, and create compelling pitch angles.
- Develop media reporting and oversee monitoring and coverage tracking.
- Help track annual NA PR budget as related to own workstreams.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in public relations, external brand communications, or journalism.
- Familiarity with emerging consumer brands is ideal.
- Strong background in media relations best practices, enabling comfort and confidence speaking with media, stakeholders, and executives.
- Desire and ability to manage and foster external relationships with reporters, conference organizers, and brand partners.
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, including creative and original pitch and press release writing.
- Background and/or interest in nutrition and sustainability.
- Ability to think critically and make informed decisions while remaining flexible and open to change.
- A connection to Oatly’s mission of encouraging health, sustainability, and transparency.
- Self-starter mentality with a high degree of individual accountability and ownership.
- Entrepreneurial spirit, comfortable with ambiguity and energized by building something from the ground up.
- Ability to share quirkiness and talents with coworkers.
