About the Role
The Data Analyst is a specialized research and analytics role within the Office of the Deputy Provost (ODP) at Vanderbilt University. This position delivers market assessments and strategic intelligence to inform the development of new academic programs, professional education offerings, and growth initiatives. The role requires a highly collaborative approach to translate market complexity into actionable recommendations for university leadership.
Responsibilities
- Conduct market assessments including labor market demand, audience sizing, competitive landscape, and pricing benchmarks.
- Create presentations and briefing materials to communicate findings to executive-level audiences.
- Analyze complex financial, HR, platform, and academic program data to shape strategic priorities.
- Develop dynamic data reporting dashboards to track key performance indicators.
- Conduct analyses to support deans and provide insights into academic unit-level initiatives.
- Increase data literacy within the Office of the Deputy Provost.
- Document data collection and reporting processes to ensure integrity and transparency.
- Partner with cross-functional colleagues and the Office of Data and Strategic Analytics to improve data quality and usability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- At least nine hours of coursework in data analytics, data science, or a quantitative field.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in data analysis or strategic research.
- Experience with data collection, reporting, and visualization systems such as Tableau, Qualtrics, and R.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional judgment and decision-making skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with changing priorities and strict deadlines.
- Ability to draw inferences from data and identify patterns.
- Experience working with diverse constituencies.
- Knowledge of current issues and challenges in higher education.
