About the Role

Join RSM Canada's expanding Business Tax practice, advising public and private multinational enterprises. Focus on client business and industry issues, collaborate on cross-functional teams, mitigate risk, optimize tax functions, and deliver digitally-enabled business tax services.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Performance Advisor, mentor, or coach to employees, providing honest and timely performance feedback.
  • Train and develop staff members.
  • Provide detailed review and analysis of tax returns.
  • Assist the assurance team with tax provision reviews and prepare/review tax provision working papers for non-assurance clients.
  • Manage risk for the client and the firm.
  • Work on multiple complex issues while communicating in a client-centric manner.
  • Advise clients on corporate tax services, including planning, research, compliance, and tax accounting.
  • Review research findings and ensure conclusions align with firm policies and professional standards.
  • Assist with new business development, extended service, and tax issue recognition for existing clients.
  • Remain up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law.
  • Participate in the recruitment of junior-level staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting or a related field.
  • CPA Designation.
  • Working towards or completion of Masters of Tax or CPA In-depth Tax Program.
  • 5+ years of experience in Public Accounting, preferably in a tax-focused role.
  • Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or collect necessary information for tax service requirements.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Corporations, Partnerships, and Trusts.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act and technical aspects of tax compliance and accounting.
  • Strong technical skills in tax preparation and developing tax focus areas.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience in dealing with international tax matters and tax review is a plus.
  • Some travel may be required.
