About the Role

Serve as the organization’s highest-level authority in radiographic testing (RT), leading technical decision-making, ensuring compliance with NAS 410, and driving excellence in inspection quality, personnel qualification, and process integrity. This role is critical to maintaining aerospace-level standards and ensuring all radiographic inspection activities meet regulatory, customer, and contractual requirements. Relocation support is available.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply NAS 410, customer specifications, and applicable codes governing radiographic inspection.
  • Serve as the designated Level III technical authority for radiographic testing.
  • Select, approve, and optimize inspection methods and techniques for specific applications.
  • Develop, review, and approve radiographic procedures and work instructions ensuring technical accuracy and compliance.
  • Own and maintain the organization’s Written Practice in alignment with NAS 410.
  • Lead the training, qualification, examination, and certification of NDT personnel.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and oversight to Level I and Level II inspectors.
  • Ensure proper documentation, traceability, and reporting of inspection results.
  • Perform radiographic inspections when required, consistent with demonstrated Level III proficiency.
  • Maintain knowledge of other NDT methods and relevant manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct internal and external audits, including supplier evaluations, to ensure compliance with NAS 410 and company requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Travel approximately 5% of time, including initial travel to vendors for certification on their products.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Radiographic Testing (RT) Level III in accordance with NAS 410 or ability to certify to NAS 410 standards.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting aerospace standards and technical documentation.
  • Proven experience developing procedures and leading NDT certification programs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and technical decision-making skills.
  • Formal training and documented experience meeting NAS 410 Level III requirements.
  • Experience across radiographic inspection methods, equipment, and techniques.
  • Familiarity with multiple NDT methods (UT, PT, MT, VT) preferred.
  • Knowledge of NAS 410 and ASNT SNT-TC-1A standards.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with audits, compliance systems, and quality management frameworks.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, climbing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs (with assistance).
  • Visual acuity requirements per NAS 410, including near vision and color differentiation.
  • Must pass a background check, drug and alcohol screening.
