About the Role

The Data Science team owns the modeling work driving critical decisions, including credit decisioning, loss forecasting, marketing-mix attribution, product experimentation, and real-time ML systems. This role is a hybrid of individual contribution and management, requiring you to write code, build models, and ship production work while leading a team of data scientists through hiring, performance management, and technical strategy.

Responsibilities

Lead a Data Science team spanning early-career to senior individual contributors.
Own hiring, performance management, and technical strategy for the data science function.
Partner with the Head of Data and leads of Data Engineering and Strategic Analytics on organizational direction.
Write code, build models, and ship production work alongside the team.
Scope modeling projects with stakeholders and ensure production performance.
Set technical direction for major initiatives such as the risk decisioning service redesign.
Develop team members and foster career growth.
Collaborate with Engineering, Risk, Marketing, Merchandising, and Finance departments.

Requirements

At least three years of direct experience managing data scientists.
Substantial individual contributor experience in data science.
Ability to defend modeling system design decisions and code.
Experience managing technical work where the right answer is not always obvious.
Proven ability to handle disagreements with stakeholders regarding scope, methodology, or results.
Willingness to work onsite in Philadelphia.
