About the Role

This role is responsible for gaining market shares in the Heart Valve, Cardiac Ablation and Revascularization businesses in an assigned territory, achieving quarterly revenue and unit goals.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct sales calls to promote and sell Medtronic CardioVascular Surgery Therapies to existing and competitive customers based on a strategic plan.
  • Develop, implement, and effectively follow through with a quarterly strategic sales plan to achieve sales goals and objectives.
  • Create a detailed forecast with customer commitments as a measure of success.
  • Identify, qualify, and close new and existing customers consistent with established sales plans and key accounts.
  • Maximize revenue potential by targeting specific customers to gain sales leads and develop business opportunities to drive growth.
  • Develop and maintain a high-level of expertise in CardioVascular Surgery Therapies products.
  • Provide feedback and information on competitive activity, changes in markets, distribution and pricing.
  • Identify and communicate to other departments (i.e. R&D, Operations, and Marketing) suggestions for new products and/or modifications to existing products or applications based upon customer needs and requirements.
  • Coordinate customer activities at all assigned meetings.
  • Train and educate customers on the safe and effective use of Medtronic products.
  • Complete all administrative reporting accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Manage time, assets and resources in a cost effective manner.
  • Manage territory budget in accordance with the strategic territory plan and within the guidelines of the Regional Manager.
  • Maintain adequate inventory (trunk stock) and assist in the reallocation and delivery of product.
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry trends and all Medtronic products.
  • Keep updated on the products and strategies of competitive companies.
  • Participate in sales training as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) AND 8+ years experience OR Associate’s Degree AND 6+ years experience OR Bachelor’s Degree AND 4+ years experience.
  • Relevant sales, clinical, or related experience in medical devices, medtech, healthcare, or life sciences.
  • Have earned Senior Representative level in another Medtronic Field Business.
  • Experience selling to surgeons.
  • Experience selling in the Cardiac operating room.
  • Track record of success in high pressure, selling environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively forecast for results.
  • Ability to successfully plan and manage accounts.
  • Ability to develop and successfully follow through with a strategic plan.
  • If the candidate has 10 years medical industry sales experience (selling physician preference products) in hospital environment with 8 years selling to interventional cardiology or cardiac surgeons, then the position may be filled at the Principal level.
  • Frequent required travel to customer clinics, hospitals and offsite meetings.
  • Available/willing to work/travel weekends and evenings.
  • This position requires on-call time.
  • Ability to transport product/equipment from car to hospital.
  • Sitting, standing and/or walking for up to eight plus hours per day.
  • Environmental exposures include eye protection, infectious disease and radiation.
  • Ability to travel extensively with ease (approx. 10% of time).
  • Must be able to drive approximately 80% of the time within assigned territory.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and active vehicle insurance policy.
  • U.S. work authorization is required for roles below the Principal level.

  • In addition to Base Salary, this position is eligible for a Sales Incentive Plan (SIP).
