About the Role
The Project Coordinator assists with Operating and Capital Projects, including infrastructure, exhibit refurbishment, and new construction. This role supports the implementation of the Strategic Plan through project initiation, planning, execution, and close-out.
Responsibilities
- Manage design, cost estimating, drawings, specifications, scheduling, construction administration, site inspections, and project close-out.
- Prepare and revise accurate technical documents, including architectural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and structural drawings.
- Participate in meetings with architects, engineers, consultants, government agencies, contractors, and internal staff.
- Assist in reviewing architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Prepare tender documents and coordinate site meetings with contractors.
- Develop detailed cost estimates for project budgets and implementation.
- Perform ongoing construction site inspections and generate progress reports.
- Oversee contractor work to ensure compliance with contract documents.
- Maintain project filing, photo records, and the AutoCAD library.
- Assist in creating and revising branch standards and documentation.
- Provide excellent customer service to guests on-site.
- Attend required training and follow all organizational policies.
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in architectural, engineering, or construction-related work.
- Highly proficient in AutoCAD.
- Capable of interpreting architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and landscape drawings.
- Knowledge of construction materials and methods.
- Knowledge of scheduling, contractor relations, and project management principles.
- Familiarity with AODA, WHMIS, Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Building Code, and National Building and Fire Code.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project.
- Valid unrestricted Class G driver’s license in Ontario with a good driving record.
- Ability to work weekends, shifts, and holidays as scheduled.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
