About the Role
The Medical Assistant supports the delivery of reproductive health care services under the supervision of clinicians and physicians. This role involves providing testing, screening, and education to clients while ensuring high-quality, efficient care in a non-judgmental and empathetic manner.
Responsibilities
- Obtain medical history, interview and educate clients, and ensure informed consent
- Perform options and abortion education and coordinate follow-up appointments
- Perform basic lab work including venipuncture, injections, and pregnancy tests
- Obtain vital signs and maintain lab and exam rooms
- Assist clinicians with contraceptive, medication abortion, and colposcopy services
- Monitor center flow and manage client wait times
- Input and update accurate client data in the Practice Management and Electronic Medical Record systems
- Greet clients, answer phones, and schedule appointments
- Assess client finances, verify insurance, and collect fees
- Comply with safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements
- Report errors, near misses, and safety concerns in alignment with Just Culture Philosophy
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program
- 2 years of comparable clinical back office medical assistant, Long-Term Care/Care Partners, or Medication Technician experience
- 2 years of experience as a health educator, STD/HIV prevention counselor, community/public health worker, or family planning educator
- Bachelor’s degree
