About the Role

SYSTRA is seeking a Bid Writer to join their bid team, playing a key role in contributing to business expansion by championing the Quality aspect of bidding. The Bid Writer will work with subject matter experts, the Senior Bid Writer, and Bid Manager to craft and review responses, ensuring they meet client requirements and achieve maximum evaluation scores. For smaller bids, the Bid Writer will provide resources, guidance, and advice, and may manage overall bid production.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Bid Directors and Bid Managers to develop proposal structures and produce written bid responses and presentation collateral in line with deadlines.
  • Review and edit previously written content, collaborating with bid team members and SYSTRA employees to gather evidence and craft compelling win themes/propositions.
  • Write effective, concise, and compelling content under deadline pressure.
  • Write content for bid presentations and supporting documentation, ensuring cohesive alignment with bid submissions.
  • Construct responses by synthesizing information from various sources into an interesting and comprehensive format.
  • Support the development of bid library content.
  • Undertake the management of selected bids during busier periods to support the wider Bid Team.
  • Engage with clients to ensure a thorough understanding of their current and future needs.
  • Review preliminary bid documents to recommend go/no-go decisions aligned with business strategy.
  • Become familiar with SYSTRA group's design, technical capabilities, operational processes, procedures, and team leaders.
  • Engage with the broader UK organization to develop working relationships and leverage joint technical capability.
  • Write key elements of bid responses with assistance from colleagues, ensuring commercial requirements and risks are considered and mitigated.
  • Champion continuous improvement through lessons learned for future bids/proposals.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports and presentations to internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate behaviors aligned with SYSTRA’s behavioral framework, fostering excellence, collaboration, respect, and empowerment.
  • Promote and sustain constructive, supportive, and collaborative working relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Plan, assign, and manage bid-related tasks to colleagues.
  • Support bid-related training and development for colleagues.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of successful bid/proposal quality response delivery.
  • Good understanding of commercial and contract terms.
  • Ability to understand client needs and translate them into concrete technical solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of cross-cultural teams across different time zones.
  • Ability to make decisions in time-pressured situations.
  • Ability to write concise and accurate answers in good English.
  • Professional approach with the ability to motivate others.
  • Good transport and infrastructure knowledge.
  • Willingness and ability to learn quickly.
  • Self-motivated with excellent personal time management skills.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience in InDesign and similar design packages is desirable
