About the Role
Restaurant Brands International Inc. is seeking a professional to develop and execute holistic category strategies that address business needs, drive sales, and enhance profitability. This role involves leading the development of strategic 3-year plans, overseeing new product commercialization, analyzing data for insights, managing P&L for assigned categories, and supporting marketing initiatives. The position also requires leading cross-functional teams and mentoring junior members.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute holistic category strategies that address business needs, drive sales, and enhance profitability.
- Lead the development of strategic 3-year plans and business cases to support new platform launches, promotional tactics, and product optimization.
- Identify growth opportunities by analyzing industry, competitive, and consumer trends to support brand and category expansion.
- Oversee the end-to-end commercialization of new products, managing the stage-gate process from ideation through to national launch.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (Operations, Marketing Communications, Supply Chain) to coordinate and execute nationwide product rollouts.
- Manage supplier relationships, negotiating funding and costing agreements to optimize product sourcing and profitability.
- Analyze sales, pricing, product mix, and consumer data to generate insights that inform category strategies and promotional decisions.
- Partner with the Consumer Insights team to conduct research that supports business plans, marketing campaigns, and future innovation pipelines.
- Own the P&L for assigned categories, setting annual financial and volume targets, and tracking performance against Net Sales, Gross Sales, and Gross Margin objectives.
- Develop and implement regular and promotional pricing strategies to gain a competitive advantage, proactively managing product mix and pricing adjustments.
- Develop campaign briefs for marketing activations, including in-store merchandising, digital marketing, and mass media channels.
- Coordinate with the Calendar Planning team to align initiatives within the marketing calendar, tracking ROI and optimizing campaign spend throughout the year.
- Lead cross-functional project teams and serve as a category expert, effectively communicating strategic goals to internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage and mentor junior team members, providing coaching on category management and professional development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
- 4-6 years in category management, product development, or brand management within the CPG, QSR, or Retail industry.
- Strong understanding of financial metrics and experience in P&L management.
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools, including proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and data sources like Nielsen and IRI.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze complex data, extract insights, and develop strategic recommendations.
- High proficiency in project management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills for cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder alignment.
- Resilient and adaptable, able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with competing priorities.
