About the Role

Zinc is building the most trusted background-check and employment-history platform. This role will own the SMB segment end to end, including pipeline, process, people, and performance. It is a permanent position initially covering maternity leave, leading an established team from day one.

Responsibilities

  • Own the SMB number, including pipeline health, conversion rates, forecasting accuracy, and revenue delivery against a £2m target.
  • Act as a player/coach, covering deals when reps are out, joining key calls, and modeling desired behavior.
  • Build and maintain best-in-class SMB playbooks, KPIs, and processes, covering pipeline development, forecasting, enablement, and performance management.
  • Plan for hiring and onboarding of 1-2 Account Executives in September/October.
  • Lead with kindness, holding the bar and protecting team culture.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, partnerships, and outbound teams to ensure a healthy top of funnel and tight hand-offs.
  • Coach reps individually through weekly 1:1s, pipeline reviews, call coaching, and development plans tied to quota attainment.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of sales management experience with direct responsibility for quota-carrying reps.
  • Proven track record selling and scaling in the SMB segment (£10k–£50k ACV).
  • Comfortable acting as a player/coach, actively participating in the work.
  • Strong process building skills, with experience creating or improving sales playbooks.
  • 2+ years of management experience, ideally at a SaaS or HR-tech company.
  • Several years of experience at a single organization, demonstrating depth in one GTM motion.
  • Experience hiring, onboarding, and ramping Account Executives in a fast-growth environment.
  • Familiarity with background screening, compliance, or HR-tech buying cycles.
