About the Role

As General Counsel, you will be a key strategic partner to the business, leading the legal function, strengthening governance, and enabling growth while managing risk in a complex, highly regulated environment. This is a critical role requiring strong commercial judgment and the ability to influence at the highest levels.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Executive team on legal, regulatory, commercial and reputational matters
  • Set and lead the enterprise legal strategy, aligned to business priorities and risk appetite
  • Support major strategic initiatives, including M&A, partnerships and transformation programs
  • Oversee corporate affairs and communications, ensuring clear and consistent messaging
  • Lead crisis management and issues response for high-profile matters
  • Provide guidance on media engagement while minimising legal, financial and reputational risk
  • Establish and embed regulatory, risk and compliance frameworks (including ACMA, ASIC and industry obligations)
  • Oversee complex commercial contracts and negotiations to drive strong business outcomes

Requirements

  • Proven experience advising public companies, Boards and executive teams in complex, highly regulated environments
  • A strong legal foundation, ideally from a top-tier corporate law firm across governance, compliance and risk
  • The ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical advice for senior stakeholders
  • Experience leading legal strategy through M&A, transformation or significant regulatory change
  • Strong commercial judgment, balancing risk with opportunity to support growth
  • Experience managing sensitive media issues and high-profile stakeholder relationships
  • Knowledge of data privacy, intellectual property and media regulation (or similar sectors)
  • A track record of building and leading high-performing teams
