About the Role

Sky News is seeking a dynamic and resilient Asia Correspondent to lead our coverage from Taipei, Taiwan. In this role, you will work independently as a video journalist to report on major news developments across Asia, driving live breaking news coverage and pitching and producing original pieces for an Australian audience on TV and online platforms. This role is based in Taipei and will be offered on a two-year Max Term contract.

Responsibilities

  • Report on news stories live from the field and in-studio, maintaining flexibility for breaking news events outside of rostered hours.
  • Film news content independently as a video journalist, write scripts, and produce high-quality news packages.
  • Pitch original news stories, track major events impacting Asia and Australia, and liaise with senior editorial staff in Sydney.
  • Collaborate with Sky’s foreign partners, including AP, Reuters, and AFP, to bolster regional content.
  • Complete and comply with all News Corp and ANC policies, including Social Media policies and Global Standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of television reporting experience.
  • Proven ability to broadcast live and perform confidently on camera.
  • Strong understanding of foreign news and major events impacting Asia and Australia.
  • Confidence and resilience to operate solo in foreign countries.
  • Ability to operate (or quickly learn) a video journalist kit.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask to strict deadlines.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing breaking news schedules.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.
