About the Role

This senior, business-facing risk leadership role partners directly with leaders in the Intermediated Insurance Australia (IIA) business to shape decisions and drive better risk management outcomes. Operating within a complex commercial insurance environment during transformational change, you will lead a team of risk professionals to support business growth by dissecting end-to-end processes and strengthening the control environment. This role offers the opportunity to help shape the future of a leading intermediated insurer by delivering pragmatic, commercially focused risk advice to senior business leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to executive business leaders, providing risk guidance and constructive challenge
  • Assess end-to-end business processes to identify risks, control gaps, and improvement opportunities
  • Support transformation and platform change initiatives, ensuring risks are effectively managed
  • Build strong relationships across a complex business to influence decision-making
  • Generate meaningful risk insights to inform business outcomes
  • Lead a team to influence outcomes across a broader, matrixed environment

Requirements

  • Proven background in assurance or risk roles within or serving the insurance industry, particularly the commercial insurance and insurance broking segments (essential)
  • Demonstrated ability to assess business processes, risks, and controls end-to-end
  • Strong track record of engaging, influencing, and constructively challenging senior stakeholders
  • Commercial mindset, with the ability to translate risk into practical, business-focused outcomes
  • Ability to direct multiple projects simultaneously, comfortable with ambiguity and able to solve complex problems
  • Proven experience operating at Senior Manager / Director level, with the ability to quickly establish credibility with senior stakeholders and to communicate with clarity
