About the Role
Phillips Tank & Structure (PTS) is seeking a full-time Tank Builder / Welder to join our growing, team-oriented, nationwide tank construction company. We specialize in designing, engineering, repairing, and constructing above-ground metal storage tanks and related structures across various industries.
Responsibilities
- Perform arc and torch cutting and gouging.
- Utilize generators, compressors, tuggers, blowers, grinders, and other power and air tools.
- Weld plate using 7018, 7024 and 6010 stick (SMAW), flux core (FCAW), and submerged arc automatic machines.
- Operate come-alongs, hydraulic jacks, hoists, air bags, winches, and other lifting equipment.
- Use tank shell buggies, tank scaffolding, tank ladders, and other specialty equipment.
- Perform vacuum box tests, oil tests, dye penetrant tests, and other non-destructive quality examinations.
- Use gas monitors, fresh air kits, respirators, emergency rescue kits, and other safety equipment.
- Operate forklifts, man lifts, boom lifts, and other large lifting equipment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of crane operations, including rigging and signaling.
- Read detailed erection and fabrication drawings.
- Plan the sequence and methods for fitting up, welding, repairing, and constructing tanks.
- Complete job safety analysis, safety audits, site-specific training, and other safety training.
- Follow directions and work professionally with other crew members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Possess great communication and organization skills.
- Ability to solve problems and suggest improvements to systems.
- Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Willingness to learn.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Be able to lift 50 lbs.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- Willing to authorize background checks.
- No criminal convictions for dishonesty, sexual misconduct, violence, or acts of terrorism.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Willing to authorize motor vehicle driving record checks.
- Willing to submit to pre-hire, random, and post-incident drug and alcohol testing.
