About the Role

The Food & Beverage Attendant is responsible for the complete setup of the Grab and Go and Bar area, including preparing and serving drinks, ringing up food items, taking guest orders, and accepting payments. The role also involves maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the Grab and Go area and related seating.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coffee and bar service by preparing and serving coffee, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
  • Ring up food items for all guests.
  • Take guest orders and accept payment for food and beverages, making proper change.
  • Perform light cleaning, restocking, and general upkeep of the Grab and Go and related seating areas.
  • Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and fellow employees.
  • Comply with hotel standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations.
  • Receive and deliver food and beverage orders and collect payment.
  • Process guest checks, collect cash, and process credit cards and room charges.
  • Perform opening and closing duties according to established side-work checklists.
  • Ensure prompt and efficient guest service.
  • Prepare cashier report at the end of each shift.
  • Pay out service attendants’ tips, if applicable.
  • Prepare beverages and cocktails according to standards for mixing, portion control, and presentation.
  • Serve guests with food and beverage requirements in a warm, friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Be attentive to guests’ needs and assist in providing a pleasant experience.
  • Have thorough knowledge of menu offerings and current specials and promotions.
  • Assist with delivering and refilling beverages, pre-bussing tables, and resolving guest requests.
  • Ensure display tables and side stands are kept stocked, tidy, and clean.
  • Be familiar with fire extinguishers, their locations, and how to use them.
  • Keep all work areas clean, properly stocked, and presentable.
  • Keep all tables and lounge areas cleaned and properly set.
  • Follow procedures in serving liquor with care to avoid problems with intoxicated guests and report to management when necessary.
  • Complete beverage requisitions to maintain par levels.
  • Stock and clean glassware and serve ware.
  • Check soda tanks to ensure they are full and properly secured.
  • Prepare all garnishes.
  • Follow all state liquor laws.
  • Assist in maintaining beverage cost.
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
  • Able to stand the entire shift.

Requirements

  • Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and guests.
  • Be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
  • Multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
  • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems.
  • Able to cross-train in other hotel related areas.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Skills

  • Bartending experience preferred
  • Responsible Beverage Serving certification
  • Food Handlers certification
