About the Role
As a Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) at Monarch House, you will support the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) team in progressing patient goals. You will work primarily with school-aged children, but may also work with pre-school children or adults. Interaction with patients and families may be virtual or face-to-face, and you will follow programming developed by the SLP under their regular supervision.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of the SLP treatment plan and carry out treatment sessions based on specific therapy goals.
- Understand and adhere to treatment objectives until the program is modified by the supervising SLP.
- Determine the need for and/or develop intervention materials for additional intervention from the supervising SLP.
- Document treatment sessions by writing progress notes that reflect patient performance and behaviors, ensuring alignment with CBI standards.
- Contribute to patient and stakeholder experience through collaboration and maintenance of professional relationships within defined boundaries.
- Elicit, collect, and record patient response data.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient, family, and significant others' personal health information.
Requirements
- Secondary courses in linguistics or language development.
- Able to manage time effectively, be independent, flexible, and open to community-based work.
- A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle for daily use.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
